The Burning Curtains (project) are currently based at Immanis Arca Studios in Argyll, Scotland, just up from the Mull of Kintyre.
With myself, Kelsey Jones as producer, and working closely with Stuart in the production phase, we are compiling video and sound material from an extensive archive recorded by both him and Brian from their time together at the rehearsal basement in Archer Park, Middleton and their recording studio at the Phoenix Mill, Heywood.
A documentary-film is being painstakingly assembled from countless hours of video and stills including live performances as well as re-mastered sound clips both collected either as ad-hoc stereo recordings or from multitrack studio masters. TBC’s back catalogue is also being re-engineered which features Brian and Stuart in full form with newly reworked guitars and vocals recorded at Immanis Arca.
The album will be an LP entitled The Burning Curtains: Legacy – The Basement & Phoenix Tapes. It will include Bullitt, Sometimes, Slit, Mesmerise, Secrets & Sins, Hypertension, Punk, Fountains, Driftwood, Saturday, Gravy(working title), Fountains, New Song and Jingly Jangly.
Following the album’s release, Stuart will be performing the tracks live at a number of venues in the UK which will also include screenings of the film before The Burning Curtains finally move on to pastures new. The Album will be available via the usual digital streaming services and a short run of vinyl and CD pressings will be available for a limited time through this website. The film will be available to stream from the usual platforms also.
We hope this will be a fitting end for TBC and a tribute to two people who broke new ground with Mancunian Indie Music.
